七品官牛品到安县任知县。知府段振举女儿死于新婚夜，传牛品来，限三天破案。牛品调查得知，新娘宠儿是段妻与他人私通之女；而新郎周麒麟是段振举奸污佣人柳春秀所生，事后，离开段府的柳春秀在妹妹柳喜发的建议下将孩子卖给了周家。可巧寻短见的柳春秀被周家人所救，于是柳春秀就成了麒麟的奶妈。周麒麟在段振举威逼下画供认罪。此时离家18年的柳喜发回来，说出了真相。知道了内情的柳春秀出来喊冤。原来，决定出走的春秀临行看望麒麟，却与宠儿争执，宠儿误伤自己身亡。案情大白，牛品打道回府。。Young people use music to express their new awareness of life and generational opposition to their parents, as well as to protest the social and political climate in East Germany.
