刘亚彩（周海媚饰）自幼被卖给大地主关学儒（关海山饰）的四子为童养媳，在关家饱受欺凌的她，幸而遇上关家二公子关天荫（张兆辉饰），情投意合的二人，却因命运的作弄，难圆鸳鸯美梦。 在错综复杂的情况下，亚彩与佃农方树根（罗嘉良饰）结为夫妇。婚后，在亚彩的苦心经营下，夫妻关系始见改善，就在此时乡里却不幸地遭逢旱灾，亚彩与树根齐心合力面对困难，但是当家庭刚刚稳定下来，树根却被陷害充军，留下无助的亚彩。 亚彩以坚毅不挠的精神，在乡土默默耕耘，等候着夫妻重逢的日子来临。但亚彩用尽半生守候，当树根再次出现时，彼此竟成了陌路人……。Michael Keegan-Dolan is one of the most remarkable choreographers working in dance and theatre today.
