一个女孩来到京都花街的一家店里，希望能够收留她见习，立志成为一名舞妓，但京都的舞妓要求严格，必须要有一口标准的京都话，而她却是操着两个地方的方言，因此被拒之门外。巧的是，一名语言学家对她发生了兴趣，觉得是一个很好的对象，于是与老板打赌，在几个月内把她的语言训练出来，因此老板才答应收留她进行训练。经历了种种挫折后，她终于通过自己的努力以及大家的帮助，最终获得了认可，成为了一名合格的舞妓。。Based on the actual 11-day disappearance of famed mystery writer Agatha Christie in 1926, the film fictionalizes her whereabouts during that time.
